Father’s Day

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

I thought I would post the following video in honor of father’s day. Not so much talking about how great father’s are, and they are great, aren’t they? No, this video and words to this song are a great reminder of what I strive to be as a father and husband. The struggles are many, but the victories are oh so sweet. I see so many of my own weaknesses in my kids but, by God’s grace, I see some of my strengths as well. The job of being a father is so hard, but I believe there is no job more rewarding.

Commitment

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Here’s a worthwhile video, and there ain’t many of these on the ole’ interwebs these days. It’s a remarkable story of commitment between a husband and wife.

Robertson  McQuilken quit his job as a university president to go home and care for his wife, who’d been suffering with Alzheimer’s. Prior to making the decision to go home, the university had tried various ways to care for Robertson’s wife, so that he could keep coming to work. At different times his wife even escaped from their home where she was being looked after, and would attempt to walk to the university, where she knew she would find the love and protection of her husband.

There’s also a four part audio series that Family Life Today did with Robertson a while back.

Overdue Update

Monday, November 30th, 2009

The above video gives you some idea of the patience that Woody has developed over his many years of living in our crazy house. Jack is arguably the most “physical” of our children. He loves banging on things, pushing things, and just exploring the myriad ways that he’s able to affect his environment. Will enjoys watching Jack wrestle with Woody, and will likely grow to torment Woody in much the same way that Jack does.
